Dr. Julie Mccoy

I was raised on a farm in the small town of St. Paul in rural southeast Kansas. I attended Wichita State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2010, before graduating from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. After graduation, I joined Ninnescah Veterinary Service in Hutchinson, Kansas, where I spent nine years as a mixed animal veterinarian. My love for animals, along with my interests in science, medicine, and problem-solving, drew me to veterinary medicine. My professional interests include ultrasound, surgery, and reproduction.

In 2023, my husband, Mike, and I moved to Wichita with our two children, Lucas and Ella, to better support our family. That same year, I began working part-time at Urgent Pet Care. Outside of work, I have a “little funny farm” of my own that includes four horses – Sugar, Fancy, Royal, and Sebastian – two dogs, Scooter and Cheddar, a Holland Lop rabbit named Blackjack, three cats named Big Cutie, Stripedy, and Cheetah, and a flock of chickens.

When I’m not caring for patients or my own animals, I enjoy gardening, tending to all my critters, and traveling. I also have a hidden talent for handling aggressive small-breed dogs – and I’m really not sure why they seem to like me!
